Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case: 5 Latest Updates On RG Kar Medical College Crime

The Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case at RG Medical College has left everyone in shock. The junior doctors continue their protests, while CBI continues to find crucial pieces of evidence to charge the culprit. Currently, a civic volunteer Sanjay Roy is under police custody as the main accused in the crime. Here are some latest updates on the matter in the last few days.

1. CBI Takes Dental Impressions

In the latest updates on the investigation, the CBI has collected dental impressions of the accused Sanjay Roy from a doctor’s body. This is a circumstantial piece of evidence which will help in establishing Roy’s involvement in the crime.

2. Sanjay Roy’s Lawyer Has Questions

Accused Sanjay Roy’s lawyer Kabita Sarkar has questioned the doctor’s autopsy. In her statement to the media, she questioned the authenticity of the autopsy and the process followed by the police ordering the post-mortem when the doctors weren’t ready.

3. Doctors Respond To Mamata Banerjee’s Resignation Announcement

Junior doctors have reacted to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s announcement of resignation. They have strongly stated that the point of their protests is to get a solution the the grave issues instead of the CM’s resignation.

4. Latest Questioning On Wednesday

The CBI grilled the accused Sanjay Roy in RG Kar College doctor’s rape and murder case. They have also questioned the Kolkata police about their initial investigation.

5. Kolkata Doctors Continue The Protest

Despite clear orders from the court, junior doctors have continued with their strikes. They were also invited by the West Bengal government to discuss the matter.

The next Supreme Court hearing on the matter is scheduled to take place on September 17.
