Kolkata Doctor Rape And Murder Case: On September 2, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, for his involvement in corruption and financial discrepancies at the institute. Alongside Sandip Ghosh, his security guard Afsar Ali Khan, and two vendors, Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra, were also arrested. According to new reports, on Tuesday, the West Bengal health department suspended Sandip Ghosh.

1. West Bengal Health Department Suspends Former RG Kar Medical College Principal Sandip Ghosh
A day after Sandip Ghosh was arrested by CBI for his involvement in financial discrepancies and corruption, the West Bengal government suspended him. The former principal was suspended 26 days after a 31-year-old trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The victim’s body was found at the seminar hall on August 9.
2. Victims’ Parents To Join RG Kar Protests Today
Doctors have been protesting day and night, demanding justice for the trainee doctor who was found dead at her workplace. According to reports, the victims’ parents will join the doctors’ protest on Wednesday, hours before the Supreme Court hearing on September 5. This entire case has sparked nationwide outrage and people are demanding strict actions and better safety measures for women.

3. Doctors’ Ask Police To Grow A Backbone In A Unique Way
On Tuesday, a group of junior doctors in Kolkata presented a handmade artificial spine during their meeting with Kolkata’s Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal. This symbolic gesture aimed to encourage the police to show more courage and determination. This act was a part of their protest following the tragic Kolkata doctor rape and murder case. Moreover, a state-wide blackout will take place today in memory of the victim.

On Tuesday, the Centre moved to the Supreme Court and claimed that the West Bengal Government didn’t provide logistical support to CISF personnel. They faced severe difficulties during their duties.

Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has been sent to 8-day CBI custody in connection with financial discrepancies and corruption at the institute. His security guard and two vendors have also been sent to CBI custody.
6. Lawyers Demand Justice For The Victim Outside Alipore Court
On September 3, several lawyers protested and raised slogans outside Alipore Court in Kolkata and demanded justice for the 31-year-old trainee doctor. They also demanded the death penalty for the RG Kar Medical College’s ex-principal Sandip Ghosh.
