Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case: State Tells SC Victim’s Father Did Not Allow Filing Of FIR
Here's what the State claimed on SC's question about why there was a delay in filing the FIR.

The Supreme Court bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra heard the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case. The CBI presented its status report and Kapil Sibal fought the case in defence. During the case, it was revealed that the victim’s father was not permitted to file the FIR. These new details surfaced when SC questioned the delay by Kolkata police in filing the FIR.
During the latest Supreme Court hearing on August 22, Thursday, there were many details about the brutal rape and murder case of the 31-year-old trainee doctor that were revealed. The SC bench headed by DY Chandrachud expressed their shock about the twisted investigation of the crime. During the hearing, it was claimed that the victim’s father did not allow the FIR to happen. This was the reason given by defence lawyer Kapil Sibal when the bench questioned him about the 14-hour delay in filing the FIR.

During the second hearing, the CBI also confirmed that there were no signs of a gang rape in the case, and submitted the timeline of the investigation. They also stated that the crime scene was altered when they took over the investigation after five days. The next SC hearing has been scheduled for September 5.

On the other hand, the doctors are gradually going to resume work after the SC intervenes in the case. The doctor’s association have also thanked the SC bench for addressing the safety issues of doctor in India. The Supreme Court has also assured the safety of doctors who are peacefully protesting against the crime.
