Ever since protesting doctors across the country have been demanding justice. As per the latest reports, the ongoing strike by junior doctors has become the longest-running protest in the country. If considered since the late 80s, no protest has ever lasted this long, revealing the senior position holders from the hospital.
After the news of a junior doctor’s rape and murder took the spotlight, doctors from the Kolkata-based medical school and hospital stood against the crime. The incident triggered a strike declared by 27 medical colleges spread across the state. However, doctors and medical professionals on strike went back to work after a Supreme Court appeal. Speaking about the protest, which indeed is the longest-running fight against crime, former students and seniors from the RG Kar Medical College revealed that nothing like this has happened since 1983.
As per reports, it has been 17 days since the students/junior doctors from the colleges in the state have gone on strike. Protesting for justice, these students are demanding justice in the rape and murder cases, and the availability of safer working environments for medical professionals across the country.
