Many shocking revelations about the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case have confused the nation. On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee revealed that Vineet Goyal, Kolkata police commissioner, offered to resign in between Kolkata protests demanding justice for the 31-year-old trainee doctor. She also added that she never bribed the victim’s parents and called it an act of slander. Read to know more.
Vineet Goyal Offered To Resign Amid Kolkata Protest, CM Mamata Banerjee Didn’t Bribe Victim’s Family
As per PTI, during the RG Kar protests, Kolkata police commissioner, Vineet Goyal had offered to resign, however, ahead of Durga Puja, they needed someone who understands law and order. She further revealed that she never offered money to the victim’s parents and said, “This is nothing but slander.” Furthermore, she informed the late trainee doctor’s parents that the government would support them if they wanted to do something in memory of their daughter. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also accused the Centre government and Left parties of conspiring. In her words, “They are involved in this conspiracy… We are not stopping you for anything” ANI quoted.
Earlier, the victim’s parents claimed that the Kolkata police didn’t cooperate with them and tried to cover up the crime. Additionally, evidence was also tampered with. The 31-year-old trainee doctor’s parents also claimed that the police tried to offer them money. However, TMC denied those claims with a video that showed that the parents of the victim were satisfied with the investigation. Later, the victim’s parents revealed that they were forced to shoot the video. Till now, Sanjoy Roy is the only accused and has been arrested.
