Only 17 Female Doctors Left At RG Kar Medical College
During a recent interaction with the Indian Express, a fourth-year MBBS student revealed that only 17 female students are staying at the women’s college. She also said that there were a total of 160 female students residing at the hospital after August 9, and many of them ran away in fear. The student also revealed that most of the hostels except the nursing ones are empty. Some students who returned to college after a few days again left because of the attack by the mob, added the MBBS student.
Many other female students also expressed their fear and terror that took over the women’s hostels after the horrific incident. During the Supreme Court hearing, the advocate reported to the bench that only 30-40 women are currently staying at the hostels out of the 700 women.
On the other hand, the CBI has debunked the crime as a case of gang rape and presented its status report before the Supreme Court. The prime accused Sanjay Roy’s involvement in the crime was also proved after the autopsy report was made. He is currently under police custody.
This crime has not only highlighted poor women’s safety in India but also the security concerns for doctors across the country. We hope that some real change happen in the laws after this case.
