The case of the gruesome rape and murder of an on-duty doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar college has Sanjay Roy as an accused. In his first interaction with his lawyer Kavita Sarkar in Presidency jail that he wants to plead not guilty in court. He also mentioned that he maintained his innocence in the polygraph test earlier. According to the lawyers who are in touch with the accused, he was asked 10 questions during the polygraph test earlier including the question about what his next act was after committing this murder.
Accused Says He Wants To Plead Not Guilty
In his interaction with Kavita Sarkar, Roy told her that he wanted to plead not guilty in court and that he was being framed. He was arrested on August 10, just after the heinous rape and murder of the trainee doctor when his Bluetooth headset was found in the seminar hall where the crime happened. According to his lawyers, the accused maintained his innocence during the polygraph test when he was asked those 10 questions. He was also asked what he did after allegedly murdering the doctor according to Times Of India. He then told the CBI investigators that the question was invalid as he didn’t murder her.
Sanjay Roy claimed that the woman was unconscious when he entered the seminar hall of the RG Kar hospital during his polygraph test according to the report. He claimed that the trainee doctor was covered in blood inside the seminar hall on August 9 and he rushed out of the hall in panic, as per his claims. He also said that he didn’t know the victim and that he was being framed. When asked why he didn’t inform the police about his innocence earlier, the accused said that he was afraid no one would believe him.
Kavita Sarkar told the organisation that the culprit could be someone else. She said that if Sanjay Roy had access to the seminar hall so easily, it showed that there might have been a security lapse that night and that someone else could have taken advantage of that.
