Rimjhim Sinha’s Reclaim The Night Protests
The post garnered a lot of attention from women who agreed to join Rimjhim Sinha in the protest. The main aim behind the protest is to show that while India gained independence on the intervening night of August 14-15, women still don’t have true independence. In a report by News18, Rimjhim said that she thought that on the night of Independence Day when the entire India celebrates its independence, she would celebrate her independence as a woman. She will call for every person who belongs to a marginalised gender community to come forth and celebrate their independence and hence she had given this call. She further added how it has now reached far and beyond, and she is very overwhelmed by the entire response. Rimjhim also added seeing women coming out of their homes and even if they cannot stay for the entire night, they are making a decision to stay for two hours or three hours in the night.
