Many news and stories about the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case have been doing rounds on social media. The Kolkata Police has recently arrested a young woman for sharing posts against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that could potentially ignite violence in the city. Kolkata Police Arrests A Student For Posting Threats Against WB CM Mamata Banerjee

On Monday, August 19, the Kolkata Police tracked down a college student’s Instagram handle by the name ‘Kirtisocial’. As per the latest updates, the girl behind this social media page is second year BCom student. Her name is Kirti Sharma and as per news reports, the girl also leaked the RG Kar Medical College victim’s face on social media. The alleged accused made three posts on social media. In one of them, she revealed the victim’s real identity by sharing her picture. The other two posts were made to incite hatred against the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. In these posts, the alleged accused made strong hate-filled statements against the WB CM and even gave life-threats to her.

As per the police, these social media posts could possibly create unrest in the state and cause widespread violence.

The RG Kar Medical College case is currently being handled by the CBI and the principal of the college was summoned for the fourth time in a row. The victim’s parents have also made some seriously allegations in the case and have stated that there are more people involved in the crime.

The court will be presented before CJI DY Chandrachud on Tuesday, August 20. We hope justice is served soon.
