Pallavi Joshi Says “Kashmir Files Remains A People’s Film” Amidst Humiliating Remarks By IFFI Jury Member, Nadav Lapid

Kashmir Films, a film that sparked heated debate among Indians, has once again stirred controversy. This time the film received harsh criticism at the International Film Festival Of India, IFFI by Israeli Filmmaker Nadav Lapid. His comments on the film during the closing speech have left the internet divided. Some are showing support, and some are condemning it. Producer and actress Pallavi Joshi who was a part of the film, has released her statement post the humiliating remarks by Nadav Lapid.

The IFFI jury member, Nadav Lapid called Kashmir Files, a “Propaganda Vulgar” film that was “Disturbing” for the jury members to watch. In response to this criticism, Pallavi Joshi shared a note on her social media platform. The note started by bashing the International Community for remaining silent and ignorant about the pain and suffering of the Kashmiri Pandits.

She held pride in the fact that after so many decades, a movie showed the harsh realities faced by the Kashmiri Pandits. Speaking for the movie’s director, Vivek Agnihotri, and herself, the note read that they both were aware of the consequences of showing such truth and dark sides on the big screen but also condemned the fact that only the “Old and false”  narrative on Kashmir was shown through cinema. In the note, Pallavi Joshi also thanked everyone who supported the film Kashmir Files and called it a “People’s film.”

Pallavi Joshi maintains that I Am Buddha, which is the production house that also produced Kashmir Files, and she is one of its owners, will always follow the “Path of truth” and never back out from showing realities through their cinema. She also thanked the Israeli Ambassador and Consul General for their support.

Vivek Agnihotri also condemned Nadav Lapid’s statement with a subtle remark. On his official Twitter handle, he wrote that people can lie after knowing the truth!
