In recent weeks, there have been rumours that the actual Annabelle doll, the creepy Raggedy Ann doll thought to be haunted, has gone missing. The rumours started during the Devils on the Run Tour, sponsored by the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), when attendees reported that the doll was missing at a tour stop in New Orleans, Louisiana. Here’s the actual truth,
Is The Annabelle Doll Missing?
The Annabelle doll is perhaps the most notorious relic in the Ed and Lorraine Warren case files, the famous paranormal investigators behind the Conjuring franchise. The doll is normally stored safely within the Warrens’ Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. But on a short excursion on tour earlier this month, visitors did not report seeing the doll, raising concerns and frantic internet speculation, some even connecting her loss to a local fire at the historic Nottoway Plantation, now a Nottoway Resort in White Castle.
The fire accident only served to heighten the panic, with some online users speculating that the escape of the doll might somehow have led to it. As these chilling allegations spread, NESPR moved swiftly to dispel the rising concern. On Saturday, NESPR lead investigator Dan Rivera ended the rumours in a TikTok video. Rivera recorded himself walking up to the famous wooden and glass enclosure containing Annabelle inside the Warrens’ Occult Museum. “She’s right here,” he stated, holding up the doll in her display case. He then further assured the fans that the doll didn’t leave the museum permanently and that she is not stolen or missing, according to the rumours online.
Rivera further added that Annabelle is set to attend the 2025 Rock Island Roadhouse Esoteric Expo on October 4 in Rock Island, Illinois, making it clear that the doll continues to be an active participant in NESPR’s paranormal outreach events. The NESPR crew reiterated this assurance on Facebook, writing, “It’s a rumour, Annabelle has NOT been stolen. The doll is safely in place at the Warren Occult Museum.”

Furthermore, the museum is now closed to the general public because of zoning limitations, restricting public access. This restricted visibility may have been responsible for previous speculation. Indeed, in 2020, there was a wave of concern that prompted Tony Spera, son-in-law of Ed and Lorraine, to assure that Annabelle was safe in her case. So, even with the intimidating rumours that hang around her, the actual Annabelle is where she’s meant to be, locked away.
