In a sad news piece today, a British broadcast engineer named Ian William Langford was found dead in his hotel room in Mumbai. His body was reportedly found on March 31. The BCCI has officially rolled out a statement related to the same as well. As the investigation into this matter unfolded, more details surrounding his death have also been unveiled. British Broadcast Engineer Found Dead In Mumbai’s Hotel Room
According to a report by Press Trust Of India, British broadcast engineer Ian William Langfords, who was 76 at the time of his death, was discovered unconscious in his hotel room in South Mumbai. He was in India for the 2026 IPL matches. After being found, the hotel management rushed him to the hospital, but sadly, he was declared dead upon arrival. The Marine Drive police station reportedly noted that nothing suspicious was discovered in Langgford’s post-mortem examination. When it comes to other details, the investigation for this case is being conducted.
As per a report by News18, after the Mumbai Indians vs. Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL clash on March 29, Jan William Langford came back to his hotel room. When the receptionist tried contacting his room, there was no response from him the following day. The employees received no response after knocking on his room. They also had to try the master key, after which they opened the room to discover Langford lying on the floor. Soon, the hotel’s in-house doctor was informed, after which the broadcast engineer was rushed to the hospital.

Following this, BCCI and IPL governing council shared a statement expressing their deepest condolences on Langford’s untimely passing. They described him as a dedicated broadcast engineer who was an integral part of their broadcast operations. They shared that their thoughts and prayers were with his family and friends back home. Adding to this, the statement mentioned that the IPL would be providing all necessary support and assistance to his family during this difficult time. They further shared that the health, safety and security of every member involved in the smooth operations of the IPL remains of utmost importance to them.
