Everyone is currently hooked to their screens because it’s the season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The first match took place on Saturday and the second at Wankhede Stadium. The IPL live streaming is also happening across the globe, but not in our neighbouring country, Bangladesh. Despite the change in the government’s stance, the broadcasters have continued not to stream IPL in Bangladesh. Read here for more.
Why Isn’t IPL Streaming In Bangladesh?
The Bangladeshi fans will not be able to watch IPL because Jio has ended the broadcast agreement in Bangladesh. This began last year, when the previous Bangladesh government had called for a ban on the IPL streaming after their player, Mustafizur Rehman, was removed from the league. It sparked a lot of controversy, leading to IPL being banned in the country. As a response, Bangladesh also asked ICC not to play the T20 World Cup in their country and also refrained from participating in the same.
However, the government was reconsidering its decision on the IPL ban, but as per the news reports, IPL will not be streaming in the country. TSports was the channel responsbible to for the broadcast of IPL matches. As per an India TV report, one of the major reasons to end the agreement is said to be the partner’s non-compliance with the payment timelines.
