IOA President PT Usha Reveals WFI Has Filed Appeal Against Vinesh Phogat’s Disqualification From Paris Olympics

In a very shocking turn of events, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics for being overweight. She also experienced dehydration and was immediately hospitalised soon after the disqualification news made headlines. The Indian Olympics Association President PT Usha has released her official statement on the matter and has stated that the Wrestling Federation Of India (WFI) has filed an appeal to the United World Wrestling regarding Vinesh Phogat’s matter.
What Did The IOA President Say On Vinesh Phogat’s Case?
Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics for being overweight by 100 gm. The news sent shockwaves in the country because Vinesh Phogat has secured herself a silver media at the Summer Olympics this year. Vinesh Phogat also experienced some health issues and was immediately rushed to the hospital post her disqualification announcement. Reacting to the whole situation, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha termed it as shocking and added that the Central Government is in support of the appeal made by the WFI. She also said that the WFI has appealed to the UWW. Talking about Vinesh Phogat’s health, PT Usha said that she met her and that the association is doing their best to provide the athletes with medical and emotional assistance.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took a review of the situation from PT Usha and asked her to look for ways in which Vinesh Phogat’s situation can be addressed.
For the unversed, Vinesh Phogat had defeated Cuban wrestler Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, an athlete who had not lost in any of her international matches.
