It seems that Instagram is keeping us hooked to the app with its new updates. Talking about the same, Meta introduced a new feature called “Instants,” which gives a new way for people to send and receive disappearing snaps. And yes, it’s not similar to Instagram’s already existing “disappearing mode” in the direct message section. Before updating your app, check out Instants’ features that will give you a better idea of it.
Details About Instagram’s “Instants” Feature
Through Instagram’s “Instants” one can send a picture via a direct message. However, the photos will disappear after being viewed and will expire within 24 hours. Additionally, the other person cannot take a screenshot or record it. As of now, the picture must be taken through the app itself and cannot be uploaded from the gallery. Apart from that, people can add captions; however others features such as filters or stickers are not made available for it yet. As per Meta, Instant allows authentic sharing of pictures without the pressure of creating polished content.
Let’s say you accidentally sent a photo through this app and want to unsend it. You don’t need to panic; just press the undo button. If you are on the receiving end of Instants, you can react with your own Instant, an emoji and reply in the direct message. The pictures that are shared will be stored in archives for up to a year.

What If You Don’t Like This Feature?
If you don’t like Instagram’s Instants, then you can snooze it! Simply press and hold the Instants section and swipe right. It allows you to temporarily stop receiving them. If you want to get rid of it, just go to the settings and tap content preferences. You will find the Hide Instants in the Inbox toggle; simply tap on it!
People are drawing similarities between this feature and Snapchat. However, the good thing is that Instant allows authentic sharing where you can just be yourself and there’s no pressure to edit the photo to be perfect.
