Up until now, we have heard news that the names of railway stations and cities have been changed. Like Allahabad has been charged to Prayagraj and Elphinstone Road station has been changed to Prabhadevi station, there are reports that state that our country’s name will also be changed from India to Bharat. This has led to backlash from people who think this is quite an unnecessary move. Even Indian celebrities have reacted to India’s name being changed to Bharat. Kangana Ranaut, Jackie Shroff and Amitabh Bachchan have shared their thoughts on this.
Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut took to her social media to talk about the India vs Bharat row. She is entirely in favour of this name change and also talked about how she had predicted this a couple of years ago. She believes India is a ‘slave name’ and that our country’s name should be changed back to Bharat.
Jackie Shroff
Jackie Shroff also shared his views on the country’s name change discussion. He said that even if the name was changed, we as citizens would not change. Shroff elaborated by saying that if people call him ‘Jocky’ or ‘Jacky’, it does not mean he is going to change. He said that he will remain the same.

Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan also took to Twitter to share a cryptic tweet in support of the name change to Bharat. He wrote, “Bharat Mata Ji Jai” along with India’s flag.

This whole issue debate of India being renamed as Bharat came to light when the official invitations sent by the Indian President, Droupadi Murmu for the G20 Summit’s official banquet had India replaced with Bharat.
