According to a report by NDTV Sports, captain Surya Kumar Yadav confirmed that Abhishek Sharma will play during the February 15 T20 World Cup match against Pakistan, set in Colombo. During India’s clash against Namibia, which Abhishek had to miss, Surya Kumar mentioned that the cricketer might not play a game or two, leading many to speculate his participation during the Feb 15 match. However, during a pre-match conference on Saturday, the captain confirmed that Abhishek will play during Sunday’s match. Early in the day, Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan’s captain, hoped that Abhishek would play during the said game. To this, Surya Kumar cheekily replied, “If Salman Ali Agha wants us to play Abhishek Sharma tomorrow, we shall play him. He will play.”

For the unversed, Abhishek Sharma did play India’s T20 World Cup match against the USA despite being ill. He was later taken to a Delhi hospital to treat stomach-related illness, due to which he missed the game against Namibia. However, his return to the fields just elevates our excitement.
