Cases of molestation are very common in India and most of the time these cases do not even get registered with the police. And as a woman, I know that most of the time we just ignore such cases, unknown to the fact that this ignorance gives these perverts the confidence to continue harassing a woman. And the prime example of this reflects in the case that has been reported in Gujarat. A woman reported being molested by a known wrestler of the state. And further investigations revealed that the alleged accused has molested at least 100 women till date.
The case is from Gujarat’s Rajkot. A woman approached the Malaviyanagar police station with the report of being molested by a man in the parking lot. The victim narrated the ordeal to the police, as per which the alleged accused was wearing a mask and came up to her when she was leaving the parking lot. The man opened his pants and started making vulgar gestures toward her. The accused even slapped her and tried to choke her. But, when the woman screamed loudly, he fled from the scene.
As per the news, the police have identified the culprit by the name of Pipaliya. He is a wrestler by profession who has won several state-level matches. The police had some difficulty tracking down the culprit since he always wore a mask. Some 1500 CCTV footage around the area was checked. When Pipaliya was taken into custody, he confessed to harassing at least 100 women. As per the police, he also use to butt-slap women while riding his bike. And he was earlier arrested for theft too, as per the news. The area where he often used to harass girls and women had many educational institutions, and during the early hours of the day, the creep would go around doing the crime.

It is crucial for us women also to not ignore such perverts and straightaway report them. It is so shocking to know that the man got away with harassing so many women. I wonder how many such men are still roaming freely without the fear of getting caught because they think harassing a woman is so casual.
