Andy Byron, the former CEO of data company Astronomer, is reportedly weighing legal action against Coldplay after a kiss cam incident at one of the band’s concerts sparked a major scandal. The moment, which went viral online, featured Byron and Astronomer’s HR head Kristin Cabot in what appeared to be an intimate exchange during a live Coldplay show in Massachusetts.
Andy Byron To Sue Coldplay?
Now, sources say Byron is considering suing both the band and event organisers, claiming emotional distress and a breach of privacy. A source close to Byron told Page Six that he feels publicly embarrassed and believes the band turned him into an internet meme without his permission.
Attorney Camron Dowlatshahi, who spoke with the outlet, explained that while a defamation claim could be attempted, it would require Byron to prove there was no romantic involvement between him and Cabot. This becomes complicated, especially after footage from the concert showed the two kissing and hugging multiple times throughout the evening.
The incident escalated further when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin made a joke from the stage after the couple tried to avoid the camera. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy,” he said. That line, caught on video, added fuel to the viral moment and likely intensified the fallout.
While Coldplay hasn’t responded officially, sources told Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop that Martin laughed off the idea of being sued over a light-hearted concert moment. Legal experts in a recent report said Byron’s chances of winning such a case are slim. “In a stadium packed with 70,000 people and cameras everywhere, it’s hard to argue privacy was violated,” one attorney said. “This looks more like damage control.”

Following the backlash, both Byron and Cabot resigned from their roles at Astronomer. Their personal lives have also seen major shifts. Andy Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan, has reportedly left their home and removed his last name from her social media before deactivating her accounts. Cabot is married to Privateer Rum CEO Andrew Cabot.
As of now, no legal filing has been confirmed.
