Sakshi Malik On Wrestler’s Protest
Siddhaarth Aalambayan’s first question to Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik was why the protests against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh happened after so many years. A question that many wanted an answer to. Sakshi Malik opened up about the same and her honest response is shocking. The wrestler said, “It took approx 11-12 years because he is a very powerful man. You can still see that after so many years, we fought for some 40 days, slept on the roads and after so much effort, we could file an FIR against him. If I had raised my voice back in 2012, I would not have been an Olympic medalist and neither would I have been sitting in front of you. That’s why I stay put, otherwise, he would have ended my career. From 2012 to 2023, we anyhow managed things, and I would have stayed silent but the harassment against the women at the federation continued to happen and I got to know about it from my juniors.”
She also said, “If we don’t raise our voices, then who will?”
Sakshi Malika also spoke about her childhood, wrestling life and more.
