While Zohran Mamdani makes headlines in American politics, his own personal history is also gaining traction, particularly the sweet story of how he met his wife, Rama Duwahi. The 33-year-old Democratic socialist, who recently secured the Democratic mayoral primary in New York City, is set to be the city’s first Indian-American, and Muslim, mayor. But behind campaign rallies and policy forums, Mamdani’s romance started on a dating app, Hinge.
How Did Zohran Mamdani Meet Rama Duwaji?
In an open interview with comedian Kaneez Surka, Mamdani disclosed that he and Rama connected via Hinge. Jocularly reassuring singles that there is still hope for dating apps, he gave credit to the platform for bringing him together with the love of his life. Considering how difficult it is to make genuine connections in a busy urban city such as New York, Mamdani noted that most individuals are stressed out by money issues and time constraints. “Individuals are so buried in the pressure of residing in a costly city that they make love much harder to find,” he added, that improved affordability actually promotes relationships.
