But did you know, the popular Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor once almost denied accepting the Padma Shri Award. The chef had a wish which was declined; however, he made sure to only accept the award after his condition was granted. Read on to know more about it.

Sanjeev Kapoor’s Condition To Accept Padma Shri

Sanjeev Kapoor took Indian cuisine to newer heights. He is a household name and one of the most-loved Indian chefs. During a video series ‘Khana Khazana’, Sanjeev Kapoor opened up about receiving the Padma Shri award, the fourth-highest civilian award in India. He spoke about the importance of the chef’s uniform and the identity that it gave him over the years of hard work. Sanjeev Kapoor also opened up about how the image of chefs had changed in the country when he started to show up on Television. And therefore, the popular chef wanted to wear the white uniform while receiving the Padma Shri Award. However, when he put forth his wish to do so, it was declined, and he was asked to follow the protocol and wear the National uniform.

As per the chef, he declined to accept the award since he was not allowed to wear his chef’s uniform for the ceremony. However, everything fell into place, and Chef Sanjeev Kapoor reached Rashtrapati Bhawan in his chef’s uniform to accept the Padma Shri Award in 2017.
