Delhi’s Kanjhawala Hit-And-Run Victim’s House Robbed, Family Suspects Friend

On the first day of New Year, Delhi’s Kanjhawala hit and run sent shockwaves across the country. 20-year-old Anjali Singh died after she was dragged for several kilometres after she got stuck under a car following an accident while she was on her way home on her scooty. Soon after, several news details came to light in the case. Initially, it was believed that Anjali was alone but the police probe revealed that she was accompanied by her friend Nidhi who fled from the scene after the incident took place. Her police statement led to more controversy and now there’s another shocking twist in the case. The family of the victim reported theft at their place and they have accused Anjali’s friend Nidhi of the crime.

According to media reports, thieves broke into their home in Karan Vihar after breaking open the lock and stole several household items as well as an LCD TV the family purchased just 2 months ago. They revealed that their neighbours informed them of the incident at 7.30 am in the morning and they rushed to their home to find things missing. Another member of the family questioned the Delhi Police and asked why was the police not outside their home at the time of the incident when they have been there for the past 8 days. Accusing the victim’s friend Nidhi of the crime, Anjali’s family said that they feel Nidhi is behind the crime.

Earlier, Nidhi had claimed that Anjali was drunk at the time of the incident but the family of the Kanjhawala case victim refuted the claims. Further, the family said that Nidhi has hatched some conspiracy and claimed Anjali was drunk but Anjali did not drink while adding that if she was drunk at the time of the incident it would have shown up in the post-mortem report. They also questioned why she ran away from the place of the incident and did not report it to the police and asked if she was scared before and how come she’s not scared now.

On the other hand, the police probe continues as the accused Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mithun and Manoj Mittal have been arrested. After analysing the call records and CCTV footage, the Delhi Police also arrested 2 suspects, Ashutosh and Ankush Khanna who allegedly attempted to derail the investigation by tampering with evidence and misleading the authorities. The investigation also revealed that the accused knew that Anjali was stuck under the car and was being dragged but kept driving because they feared getting caught and being accused of murder. Ankush Khanna was granted bail, and the other 6 have been sent to 14 days judicial custody.
