Swati Maliwal Demands FIR Against Man For Revealing Identity Of Minor Girl In WFI Case, Summons Delhi DCP

In India, the identity of any victim is not revealed to protect her from other threats. Especially in high-profile cases, this becomes all the more crucial. In past, we have seen many such cases where the witnesses were harmed or killed. Delhi Commission Of Women chief Swati Maliwal recently brought the police’s attention to a man who has been releasing the identity of the minor girl, who has accused WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.

The DCW chief Swati Maliwal took to her Twitter handle to post a blurred image of a man who claimed himself as the uncle of a minor girl. Swati Maliwal further informed that the identity of the minor girl who has filed a complaint against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is being circulated by the man to the media. The DCW chief has also alerted the police about it and demanded an FIR against the man under the provisions of the POSCO Act.

Swati Maliwal also expressed deeper concerns about the man posing as the victim’s uncle and releasing her identity. She questioned it to be a strategy for putting more pressure on the victim.

The wrestlers’ protest led by Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat is going strong. They have currently given the government an ultimatum of five days before they immerse their medals in Haridwar’s Ganga river.  The wrestlers have demanded strict actions against the WFI chief and the allegations are being investigated as of now. The Internation Wrestling Federation also issued a statement in support of the wrestlers and demanded a fair and thorough investigation on the matter. They also condemned the treatment of wrestlers by the Indian authorities.

The allegations against the WFI chief of sexually harassing a minor are serious and at any cost, it is important for the authorities to protect her, so that the truth can come to the surface.
