Agra Court Accepts Complaint Against Spiritual Leader Aniruddhacharya For Insulting Women. Here’s What He Said

In a recent turn of events, spiritual leader Aniruddacharya has found himself in legal trouble after a video of him making derogatory remarks about women went viral in October 2025. The complaint was accepted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Mathura by Meera Rathore, Agra district president of the All India Hindu Mahasabha. The controversy began after a clip of Aniruddhacharya making offensive comments on young women and marriage went viral online. He was seen suggesting that girls who get married at 25 have ‘already tried too many things.’ This remark triggered mass criticism online, with women’s groups and social media users accusing him of demeaning young girls and promoting patriarchal norms. Meera Rathore said that the comments were ill-suited for a religious figure.
She said, “Such statements do not benefit our saints.” She had first approached the Vrindavan police station, but no FIR was filed, so she had to escalate the matter to the court. Rathore even took a personal vow of not tying her hair until this case was filed, and was not released from it. Manish Gupta, her lawyer, called the court’s action a major success and an important step towards respecting women. With the court involved, Aniruddhacharya will have to appear and answer everything he has been accused of.
Amid the heavy backlash, the spiritual leader claimed that his words were misunderstood and taken out of context. He said, “A woman who has relationships with multiple men cannot be of good character, and a man who has relationships with multiple women is considered an adulterer.” Aniruddhacharya also insisted that the viral clip misrepresented his intentions.
