“Pre-Wedding Shoots Go Against Culture”: Chhattisgarh Women’s Commission Chief. Ab Yeh Kya Hai Naya?
Kuch bhi matlab?

If you see your parents’ wedding pictures or videos, you will realise how basic wedding photography was back then. One of the main reasons for this was that the bride and groom did not have much say in the wedding preparation in those days. But today, wedding photos need to have an aesthetic, and there is a huge amount of craze for pre-wedding pictures as well. And there is nothing wrong with that as girls and guys are taking charge of how they want their wedding photos to turn out. But Dr Kiran Mayee Nayak, the Chhattisgarh Commission for Women, thinks the pre-wedding shoots go “against the culture” and should not be encouraged!
As per reports, Dr Kiran Mayee Nayak has slammed the pre-wedding photoshoot practice and said that it goes against “our culture”. She made this comment in reference to a case that came to her. The couple in the case got a pre-wedding photoshoot done but the to-be groom broke the marriage before the nuptials took place. The reason for breaking up the marriage has not been mentioned.

The bride’s family had paid for the wedding preparation including the pre-wedding shoot, and the groom’s family refused to pay them back. But with the intervention of the Chhattisgarh State Commission for Women, the money was returned to the girl’s family, and the photos were also deleted. In view of this case, Dr Kiran Mayee Nayak said that many such cases come to the Commission and this culture pre-wedding shoot is not a part of our culture and by hopping on to this trend, people are moving in the wrong direction. She also said that there is no problem if the couple takes as many pictures as they want after the marriage.

Um, I think Dr Kiran Mayee Nayak has gotten confused between pre-wedding photoshoots and boudoir photography. There is nothing wrong with getting a pre-wedding photoshoot done and neither is it shameful. In this case, the guy broke the marriage, so he should have been blamed for it not pre-wedding pictures. People get pre-wedding shoots done to add an aesthetic touch to their wedding album. Also, for the kind information of Dr Nayak, I would like to tell her that marriages have been broken before when the pre-wedding shoot was done. So, whom would she like to blame in such situations? Maybe, the pandit for not saying the mantras right!
