‘Notices, bulges, OWO, what’s this?’
The writing found in the first bullet casing read, ‘notices, bulges, OWO, what’s this?’ The phrase appears to be referencing the internet’s furry subculture that centres around people who have an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters. In the community, OwO is used as a cute emoticon. However, in this context, experts think that the emoticon was used in a mocking sense.

When asked by Sky News’ US correspondent James Matthews what the messages on the casings meant, Utah governor Spencer Cox said the writing referring to a fascist “speaks for itself”. The arrows have been interpreted to be a satire of fascism.
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
The phrase, which sounds like gibberish at first, is actually a reference to a classic Italian song that became a popular anti-fascism anthem during Benito Mussolini’s dictatorship. The song gained popularity when it was featured in Netflix’s hit show Money Heist.
