Talk about bizarre news, and we have plenty of it in India. Recently, a temple in Bengaluru has refused to hold any weddings on its premises. This decision surfaced after a person filed a complaint against the temple for refusing to hold his wedding. When asked for a reason behind it, the priests have expressed concerns and frustration over the rising rate of divorce. Well, wondering how that connects? Keep reading to know more about it.
What Is The Incident?
A man had recently filed a complaint with the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office in which he accused a temple in Bengaluru of refusing his wedding on the premises. The temple in question is the Halasuru Someshwara Swamy Temple which has been a popular place for weddings too. However, lately the management is not happy with the rising number of divorce cases. In their response to the complaint, they said that the authorities have multiple visits to the temple for verification in divorce cases of the couple who got married at the temple. According to the news report, the numbers have rise in the last few years. As per an Indian Express report, the administration also raised concern about the priests of the temple being dragged in the court cases of these divorces.
The temple authorities have stood firm on their decision of not having wedding on its premises. As per them, the decision could be reassessed later but at the moment, there would be no weddings, as they do not want the image of the temple to be affected.
