Women’s safety has certainly become a joke now. Every day, there is a new case of violating a woman’s privacy, or a case of harassment, or every minute a r*pe case. And yet, nothing substantial to prevent such crimes. While we are still discussing this, here’s another shocking crime that has come to light in Bengaluru. A man has been accused of taking women’s pictures on the metro, and he even circulated them on social media platforms. All, without any consent. Read on.
What Is The Bengaluru Metro Case?
A man named BK Diganth has been accused of taking pictures of women on the Bengaluru metro. The case details that have unfolded are very shocking. As per a News18 report, the man filmed women secretly on the Namma metro, and these women had no idea of being filmed. The accused even made Instagram and Telegram pages with the name “Metro Chicks” where he posted these videos. The alleged accused had 6000 followers on the page where he shared these videos of the women, and many comments also discussed their physical appearances.
The Karnataka High Court, presided over by Justice M Nagaprasanna, heard the case and expressed disgust at the case. He said, “Not good enough,” and took the case seriously. He sent the accused for trial. As per a TOI report, the court also raised questions about the kind of man the accused was, and added that he would not allow women to be safe anywhere. The court took this as a matter of invading women’s privacy. The court rejected his pleas to dismiss criminal charges against him.
More About The Accused
According to news reports, BK Dignath, the man accused in the case, is an accountant by profession. In his defence, his lawyers argued that the filming was equivalent to CCTV footage recorded in public spaces. The court dismissed these arguments, saying that CCTV footage was not used to share on social media where women’s bodies were being discussed. The trial continues with the accused currently in police custody.
