As a woman, it is always heartbreaking to report on the several incidents of s*xual assault happening in India. After the terrifying incident in Kolkata and then in Delhi, another incident has been reported in Bengaluru. As per the reports, a student of an Engineering College was r*ped by a student from the same college, and the police have now registered an FIR. The accused has been taken into custody, and an investigation is being carried out to collect more evidence. Read on for more.

More On The Case

As per the news reports, the incident happened on October 10, but the victim reported it to the authorities five days later. The victim is a seventh-semester and the alleged accused named Jeevan Gowda is a sixth-semester student from the same college. According to the NDTV report, in her statement to the police the victim said that the alleged accused has called her to meet, and she was supposed to collect something from him. However, when they met, he tried to forcibly kiss her, and when the victim tried to run away from the scene, he overpowered her and dragged he into the men’s washroom, as per the reports. The alleged accused assaulted her and even took away her phone while she was getting calls.

The new reports also suggest that the accused had also asked the victim if she need pills. The victim had told about the incident to two of her friends, but was hesitant to report. She did it five days later, and as per the police, there were no CCTV cameras on the floor where the incident reportedly took place.

Reportedly, the accused is currently in police custody, and an FIR has been registered under Section 64 (Punishment for Rape).
