Amid the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals’ captain Riyan Parag garnered major attention. He was caught smoking a vape during his team’s match against the Punjab Kings. The attendees captured videos of him doing so and have shared it on social media. As this clip made rounds online, a BCCI official reportedly said that they would be seeking an explanation from him for doing this. Know what else was said.
BCCI Official’s Statement After Riyan Parag Was Caught Smoking A Vape
Riyan Parag was caught smoking a vape in his dressing room, where other teammates like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kuldeep Sen, and more were present. As per The Indian Express, an officer from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated, “We will be seeking an explanation from Riyan on this issue, as vaping is not allowed. Depending on his explanation, the IPL will take further course of action.” In case you don’t know, any such activity involving smoking or vaping is strictly not allowed on the stadium’s premises, except in certain zones. It’s worth mentioning that e-cigarettes have been banned in India under The Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA), 2019.

Has Riyan Parag Issued a Statement?
Although the controversy involving Riyan Parag has taken over the internet, the cricketer has not issued a statement yet. Additionally, BCCI or his IPL team, the Rajasthan Royals, have not shared an official statement over him smoking on a vape. As far as his team’s match against the Punjab Kings goes, the Rajasthan Royals won with flying colours. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played exceptionally well during the game.
Now, fans are waiting to hear an official statement or clarification from either Parag or the BCCI.
