Nationalist Congress Party Leader Baba Siddique is no more. The senior leader of Ajit Pawar’s faction died earlier this evening after he was shot in the Bandra area of Mumbai. The political leader was fired at by unidentified persons at the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan. He was immediately rushed to the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra after he suffered gunshot wounds.

How Did Baba Siddique Die?

As per several media reports, NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot at by 2-3 unidentified assailants outside his son Zeeshan’s office. According to India Today, the incident took place around 9:15-9:30 pm when the NCP leader was bursting firecrackers outside his son’s office on the occasion of Dussehra when three masked attackers stepped out of a car and opened fire at him without any warning.

The report further reveals that Siddique suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and immediately fell. He also suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The political leader was taken to the Lilavati Hospital in the city. However, the latest update is that Baba Siddique succumbed to his injuries and breathed last on October 12. Mumbai Police reportedly shared that two to three rounds were fired and the cops are currently investigating the motive behind the attack while also searching for his attackers.

What Did CM Eknath Shinde Say About Attack On Baba Siddique?

In a statement, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde called the attack on the NCP leader an “extremely unfortunate” incident and went on to reveal that Mumbai Police has arrested two people in connection with the attack on Baba Siddique. He also revealed that one of the attackers is from Uttar Pradesh, another is from Haryana and the third attacker is on the run. The Maharashtra CM ensured strict police action while adding that such a “gang-war-like situation” should not be allowed to take place in Mumbai. Media reports suggest that the cops are further investigating to catch the third suspect.

Soon after the news of Baba Siddique’s death broke, several public figures reached Lilavati Hospital to support the NCP leader’s family in the tough times. Actor Sanjay Dutt, BJP leader Ashish Shelar, Sonakshi’s husband Zaheer Iqbal’s Father Iqbal Ratansi, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Politician Kripa Shankar, Ramdas Athawale, Aslam Shaikh, Varsha Gaikwad and more have already arrived at the hospital. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra were also seen arriving at the hospital to meet Baba Siddique’s family as Veer Pahariya exited the hospital after meeting them.
