Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East on Saturday, October 13. The NCP leader died in a targeted attack by three assailants who fired six rounds at him at 9:30 PM. The attackers got out of the car and opened fire upon him while their faces were covered. Two of the bullets struck Siddique’s chest and even after rushing to the Lilavati Hospital, he succumbed to his wounds shortly after they arrived.
6 Rounds Of Bullets Fired At Baba Siddique
A 9.9 mm handgun was used in the shot, implying a contract killing, according to one report. In addition to the three shooters, one other person was involved, giving information to the assailants. It is also reported that the shooters were affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and had done reconnaissance before the shooting. According to sources, snipers have also been monitoring Zeeshan Siddique and other family members’ movements.
Siddique, who had just announced the ending of his four-decade-long ties with Congress and had joined Sharad Pawar-led NCP, had received a death threat 15 days ago and was under the ‘Y’ category security. Doctors from the Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Baba Siddique succumbed to his injuries at 11:27 PM and had two gunshot wounds.
Dr Nitin Cardiologist at Leelavti Hospital, confirmed, “Baba Siddique Saheb was brought to Lilavti Hospital at 9:30 pm, with no pulse rate and blood pressure. He had two gunshot wounds on his chest. We started the emergency and recitative measures. He was shifted to the ICU. At 11:27 pm he was declared dead. The number of bullets fired will be certain after postmortem.”
