Baba Siddique Murder Case: 5 Latest Updates On NCP Leader’s Shocking Death

Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, was shot dead on October 12 outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office. On Sunday, October 11, Mumbai Police arrested two of the three gunmen involved in the incident, and the team has now arrested the third culprit. The third accused, Pravin Lonkar, 28, was apprehended in Pune. Here are 5 major updates on the ongoing investigation.

1. Shooters Used Smoke Crackers

According to a cop in Baba Siddique’s security, the shooters used crackers to ensure loss of vision before firing. Out of the three accused, two of whom are in custody, burst a smoke firecracker to challenge the vision of his security derail. While Siddique’s security was momentarily distracted, the shooters opened fire and killed him on the spot.

2. Fourth Suspect In Contract To Kill Baba Siddique

Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar (22) has been identified as the fourth suspect in Baba Siddique’s murder case. Akhtar is also suspected to be linked with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. According to Jalandhar police, Akhtar was charged with many crimes, including attempted murder, violations of the Arms Act, robbery, extortion, and sheltering criminals. He was caught in June 2022 following a police operation that resulted in the apprehension of 11 members of an interstate gang led by Bishnoi and another gangster, Harvinder Ridha.

3. Maharashtra CM Speaks About Pubic Safety

In a conversation with ANI, CM Shinde said,  “The third accused is absconding. He will be arrested soon. They will not be spared no matter who they are be it the Bishnoi gang or any underworld gang. Strict action will be taken.”

4. NCP-SP’s Clyde Castro Slams Maharashtra Government 

NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Clyde Crasto slammed the Maharashtra government by questioning by they failed to protect Baba Siddique. “People could have also been shot in the incident. The common man is also a victim. Maharashtra government should answer why they failed to provide security to Baba Siddique and the people of Maharashtra,”  Castro told ANI.
