In recent events, a Nashik court on Wednesday, April 8, remanded Ashok Kharat in judicial custody until 21 April in a second r*pe case. The case states that he allegedly s*xually exploited a woman on multiple occasions since 2020 under the guise of religious rituals. The SIT is currently investigating this case against him and produced him in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate BN Ichpurani after his police custody ended in the second case.
About Ashok Kharat Case
As per recent reports, Ashok Kharat was not produced in court in person due to security reasons, while the proceedings were held through a video conference. During this, Kharat told his name with folded hands when the court asked him his name. After this, the SIT showed the remand report and sought his judicial custody. After this, the court sent him to 14-day judicial custody till 21 April. He will now be sent to the Nashik Road Central Jail.
For the unversed, Ashok Kharat’s arrest happened after a 35-year-old woman filed a r*pe complaint against him at the Sarkarwada police station in the Nashik district in north Maharashtra. Reportedly, a case against him has been filed under relevant parts of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil, and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.

The victim in the second case had been in contact with Kharat since 2013, when she initially met him at the suggestion of a relative to help her marriage. According to the accusation, he continued to contact the woman after her marriage under the guise of helping her with her family troubles and s*xually exploited her.
