Anaya Bangar Shares Scientific Reports To Prove Trans Athletes Are Eligible For Women’s Cricket; Addresses Note To BCCI, ICC

There is a lot of chatter and debate around transgender athletes and their inclusivity in women’s sports. Recently, Anaya Bangar, daughter of the former Indian cricketer and coach, Sanjay Bangar, has penned a note addressed to the cricket associations International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In this, Anaya has requested the associations to include and support transgender athletes in the sport, and has also given scientific reasons to prove she is fit to join cricket as a trans athlete. What Did Anaya Bangar Say?

Anaya Bangar shared a long note on her social media handle. In this, she revealed her transformation and that she undertook tests to “understand the impact of hormone therapy on athletic performance”. The note was addressed to BCCI and ICC, in which she also revealed the results of the tests, and further urged the governing cricket bodies to consider transgender athletes in women’s cricket. She further requested them to consider the report since the discussion around the inclusivity of transgender athletes is very much based on the date assumption.

In another video, Anaya Bangar also released the 8-page report of her tests. In the caption, she wrote that science proved her eligibility as a trans athlete to join women’s cricket. She further questioned if the world is ready to hear the truth and accept it.

Many social media users supported this move by Anaya and called it bold. They wished her luck and power. Some users opined that there the transgenders should get their own category as it would be for the women.
