In a shocking turn of events Delhi CM Rekha Gupta was reportedly attacked by a man during an event at her residence in Civil Lines. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned on Wednesday stating that a police inquiry into the incident is underwent. The incident took place during a ‘Jan Suwai’ (public hearing) event at CM Rekha Gupta’s residence. One man was nabbed by the police in connection with this. Read to know about it here.
Who Attacked The Delhi CM?
As quoted in Hindustan Times, the alleged attacker identified himself as Rajesh aged 41 from Rajkot, Gujarat. There is still no clarity in what exactly happened as many conflicting versions of people were told who were present at the event. Though officials from CM Rekha Gupta’s office initially said that her hair was pulled and she was slapped, later the Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that these claims were ‘fabricated.’ He said that CM Rekha Gupta got injured during the commotion when a man attempted to pull her.
As per people from her office, she was attending people and listening to their grievances when a man suddenly came forward and handed her a piece of paper. They said that he started speaking very loudly while using expletives and eventually ended up slapping her. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor earlier quoted that the man physically attacked her by pulling her hair. However, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva denied that the Chief Minister was slapped, claiming that she struck her head on the edge of a table when a commotion erupted when a guy abruptly grabbed her hand and sought to pull her.

He said, “This has caused some shock. I have met her, she is a strong woman. It seems that the slap or stone-throwing stories are fabricated.” Sachdeva quoted that though the CM was taking rest currently, she would not be cancelling her programmes.
