On May 23, the Union Public Service Commission released the final IAS list of selected candidates for the year 2022. The list assigned 933 candidates to different roles across the country. In the top 10 of the list, there are a total of 6 girls and 4 boys. In fact, the top 4 rank holders on the list are all girls. The first rank holder in the UPSC IAS list is Ishita Kishore. Garima Lohia and Uma Harathi hold the second and third positions respectively. As per the reports, the exams were held last year, whereas the interview process happened in January 2023.
Well, this is no surprise, tbh. Girls have been coming out with flying colours in their UPSC results. Even in 2021, the top three rank holders were all girls- Shruti Sharma (AIR-1), Ankita Agarwal (AIR-2) and Gamini Singla (AIR-3). In fact, if we saw from the year 2011 to 2021, there have been more girl toppers in comparison to boys. IAS 2015 topper Tina Dabi went on to become a popular face on social media and became an inspiration for the youth, especially girls after clearing UPSC in her first attempt.
