5 Times Comedian Samay Raina Crossed The Line With His Dark Jokes

In the age of free speech, many miss the line between being decent and disrespectful. While stand-up comedy is a safe place for people to go and have unharmful jokes, some artists have this attitude to present dark jokes to show they are cool and get away with it. Subjects like abortion, women’s safety, and divorce are tough to process, and while many are working on creating this world a safe place, Samay Raina continues to post offensive jokes in the name of comedy. Here are 5 times when his jokes didn’t land!

1. The Abortion Joke

A joke that doesn’t need to be relayed verbatim because it was just offensive. The comedian posted a tweet saying that once he wrote a joke on his girlfriend but she didn’t end up liking it and asked him to remove it. And to this, he said that if someday he would want his girlfriend to get an abortion, then she should not come and say my body is my choice. I mean, does this even need a pointing out on what’s wrong? Comparing a tweet to a traumatising procedure is not even close.

2. Chandigarh Hostel Case

A while back, when another horrific case of videos of students from Chandigarh University from their bathrooms were allegedly uploaded, Samay Raina made a joke about the unsafe nature of a big university towards women. Replying to a tweet where a guy wrote that it’s better to see things with nak*d eyes than record it. To this, he asked if the guy was talking about the Chandigarh case. This is problematic on so many levels!

3. Abortion Joke Pt 2

Looks like Samay Raina thinks getting an abortion is a very easy and fun process because the kind of jokes he makes on the matter seem that way. In a not at all funny, and only offensive joke, Samay Raina tweeted why are you getting triggered? Did your mom’s abortion fail? That is not funny. While we are fighting about women’s rights, this is something a big comedian with a massive audience is posting.

4. Kusha Kapil Roast

In a controversial roast on Ashish Solanki’s podcast, Raina told a few jokes about Kusha Kapila’s divorce. He said that Kusha Kapila and her ex-husband shared a female dog who they had adopted and suggested Kapila give it to her ex-husband instead of sharing as her ex-husband should at least have one b*tch in his life.  Is this “dank comedy?” Because no one needs it.

5. Cancel Culture

In one of his tweets, Raina mentioned that because of cancel culture, we don’t have comedians such as Andrew Schulz, Jimmy Carr, Dave Chapelle, and more. But don’t worry because he is here to clarify that jokes are just jokes even if they are offensive and will traumatise one.
