Influencer Sweet Zannat, who was earlier linked to the 19-minute video, claimed that someone else’s mess was being dumped on her. A report by LatestLY also claimed that the video was false. While the su*cide was false, the wide circulation of this video is a threat. Many clips claiming to show you the ‘full video’ are malicious and would hijack your device, steal your passwords, or even access your camera without your permission.
For the unversed, users are often redirected to a site demanding age verification via a credit card or UPI, and entering your information here would result in financial theft. In some cases, these hackers even lock your device’s files and demand a ransom to release them. Even engaging in this video holds criminal liabilities in India. If you were to forward the video or even the link to a WhatsApp chat or a Telegram chat, you would be illegally pushing ‘s*xually explicit material.’

This could lead to imprisonment for 5 years or a fine upto Rs 10 Lakhs. This is also a non-bailable offense in which case the police can arrest you without a bail or a warrant. While many believe that watching this video in private would be safe, if the video is even downloaded to your phone, you would get in trouble. Such AI-generated videos are common, and possessing or sharing would be ‘Cheating by Personation’ or ‘Violation of Privacy.’
