Now some well-known brands under the HUL are- Dove, Elle 18, Glow and Lovely, Clinic Plus, Dermalogica, etc. HUL deals with the workings of all its consumer products in India and is one of the largest FMCG giants in the country. The brand Unilever is currently in the news because they have recalled their dry shampoos from the US and Canada markets, and all of them which were manufactured before October 2021. What makes this news scarier is the fact that these products have been recalled, and basically have been asked to return because they have Benzene, a chemical causing cancer in them, that too in large quantities. As per a report by Bloomberg, the brands whose aerosol dry shampoos have been recalled include Dove, Nexxus, Bed Head by Tigi and Tresemme. The details about this were put up by the Food and Drug Administration on their official website. However, there is no official data or statement by Unilever regarding the Benzene levels in these products, which BTW has been termed to be even life-threatening if exposed to on a daily basis.
