Why Do We Celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Valentine’s Day is celebrated across the globe on February 14th. The day is named after the catholic priest St. Valentine. Well, many stories float about him. St Valentine was known to conduct the marriages of many Christian soldiers who were forbidden from getting rule married under the rule of the Roman emperor Claudius II. As per the historians, he was also sent to prison for this act and was executed on February 14.
St Valentine was also known to miraculously heal the jailer’s daughter and he later fell in love with her too. There are many stories about St Valentine’s writing a letter to the jailer’s daughter right before his execution. In this letter, he addressed himself as ‘From your Valentine’.
