Reddit Discusses Pros And Cons Of Getting Into First Relationship In Late 20s, We’re Taking Notes!

The nature of love and relationships is constantly evolving. And everyone has a different take on it. Unlike many things, entering your first relationship is never in your control and can happen at any stage of life. Discussing the same, a Reddit thread discusses the impact of age on a person’s first relationship. Users on Reddit, dissect “Those who had their first relationship a little later (mid-twenties and beyond) how did that fact impact your relationship?” Well, sounds interesting!

Raising the problems that come with staying single for the longest time in life, a Reddit user mentioned– “I am a 22 Female and have never been romantic with anyone (no first kiss, nothing). Not on purpose, it just never happened. I am afraid that being without affection from someone this long has impacted me more than I like to admit or realize. For example, I have already noticed I have a really hard time accepting help with anything. Like if my friend offers to open a jar for me, absolutely not. I am just wondering how many issues this will cause in a relationship, if any, and if these issues eventually go away. Would love to hear anyone’s experience with this.”

Discussing the same, those who found themselves in the same spot mentioned that being single for the longest time affects the way they react to intimacy. Responding to it, many Reddit users, shared their personal life stories and mentioned that despite entering a real relationship in their late 20s, they didn’t stumble upon a lot of issues. It all happened because of the right kind of communication.

A few Reddit users also mentioned that a few potential partners often turn down a relationship with a newbie, just for the sole reason that due “sexual inexperience.”Well, this might really hurt the self-esteem of the person, who already hasn’t tried dating. Another user mentioned–”My first serious relationship started when I was 26 and lasted seven years. To be fair, I think I learned more about what not to do than anything else.”Another interesting perspective was a user’s stance on how hyper-independence is a lot easier than correcting romantic dependence, or toxic ideas about love that you develop when you’re still growing up. Well, that actually makes sense.

All in all, there are pros and cons to entering your first relationship in your late 20s, but with the right person and good communication. Nothing becomes a problem.
