Are Quick Commerce Apps The Death Of Grand Gestures Of Love? Here’s What We Think
Quick commerce apps are becoming the solution to everything now and we believe it will be the death of grand gestures of love!

While I was doom-scrolling last night, I came across a reel in which a man was ranting about how he received some gorgeous lilies from his girlfriend and was expressing his appreciation for them. Then, a wave of sadness hit him when his girlfriend revealed that she ordered them on Zepto. As soon as he heard those words his smile turned into a sad frown when his mind realised that the flowers held no effort and were the result of a few taps on the mobile screen and he no longer felt special. This got me thinking, is quick commerce going to be the death of grand gestures people do for their loved ones? If you are intrigued just like me then keep on reading.
There’s no doubt that quick commerce apps have brought so much convenience to everyone’s life, whatever you can imagine buying is available at your fingertips. They almost feel like godsend angels now, at least for me. I don’t have to ever worry about missing items in my kitchen because I can restock them in 10 minutes. And not only kitchen items, heck I have even bought skincare and makeup products from them and even a suitcase.
How Can Quick Commerce Fizzle Out Gestures Of Love?
Now coming to the point of gestures and quick commerce being the death of them, here’s what I think. Today’s world is all about going digital, be it movies, dates, dinners and whatnot. But it has also brought a craving for the old love, the 90s love where people used to long to just see a glimpse of their loved ones. Where people used to write love letters and wait for their replies for weeks and months. And now? Well everyone is just trying to slide into each other’s DM’s or ghost them, at least that’s what is happening with the singles right now. For the couples, it is different. While I totally understand the point that in the fast-paced world of today, where everyone is hustling for something, they don’t usually have a lot of time for other things, grand gestures of love included. So ordering flowers for your partner to let them know that you were thinking of them is definitely a very thoughtful gesture. But But But, ordering them on quick e-commerce sites is where I draw the line.
Isn’t love all about going that extra mile for your loved ones? When Peter Kavinsky got Lara Jean her favourite drink from across the town that was a gesture of love and a grand one even if it was not grand not in terms of money and size. So, when two people who are living in the same city can definitely take out 5 minutes of their time to buy them flowers. Like they say handmade gifts will always remain top tier, in the same way going to a flower shop and asking the florists to put together your girl’s favourite flowers in a bouquet will always remain top tier compared to ordering them on quick e-commerce sites. And no, I am not shaming people who order flowers for their partners from the quick commerce apps. Once in a while chalta hai but making a habit of it just creates a laidback attitude in the relationship, which I am sure everyone would like to avoid.

When someone remembers what flowers you like and where you like them from, or what flowers you specifically like in your bouquet and brings that, especially for you, the feeling you get is unmatched. On the other hand when you order them from the apps it just kinda looses the touch, like how maa k hath k chole bhature cannot be compared to the restaurants in the same way buying flowers from the florist and ordering them from the apps can never replace each other. And that is why your bouquet will never look similar to someone else’s because you got it personalised for your loved one, which I am sorry to say no quick commerce app will provide you.
As I was discussing this idea with my teammates, they very interestingly pointed out that if someone is ordering them flowers from quick commerce apps they’d still feel happy and special and would not ponder over the fact where they really came from. And that is my friend is because our expectations in a relationship have been driven very low in the ground and honestly where is the lie? And my long-distance girlies and guys no need to come and bash me. The quick commerce apps have been a boon for you people and there is no denying it. And that is why this thought doesn’t apply to you.
