5 Ways To Get Rid Of Your Hickey Effectively And Fast

For the longest time, I didn’t know what a hickey was. And honestly, whether I like hickeys or not, really depends on the weather. Ideally, yes, I love them because they remind me of the passionate sesh I had with bae. During winters, I am more lenient and accept love bites more freely because all that fabric on my body isn’t for nothing. But don’t you dare give me one on the neck during summers. Who’s going to wear high neck outfits and slowly suffocate to a heatstroke induced death?

I wouldn’t care if I lived alone. But I think my mom understands the difference between a mosquito bite and a love bite. Her ignorance would have been my bliss but since she’s smart and all, I got to make them disappear. And let me tell you this very honestly – a concealer does nothing, absolutely nothing to a big bad hickey. This isn’t a pressing relationship issue with your boyfriend that you can just brush under the carpet like a true adult. It has to be dealt with in the most efficient manner.

Now, a hickey does act all stubborn and takes several days to truly disappear. But there are tips and tricks that can help you erase it almost instantly. My best friend before her wedding came to my house worried. Her to-be husband had given her a huge hickey and they didn’t want her families to find out. I used my magic techniques. Okay, they aren’t quite mine but I have tried and tested and I can tell you which one is really the best. Go on.

Cold Is Gold

What are love bites? Well, in the technical sense there’s nothing cute about it. To think of it, aren’t we humans a little weird enjoying give each other bruises? These are broken blood vessels and cause the blood to pool under your skin. Applying a cold compress and a bit of pressure can stop the blood from pooling and hence lighten the mark. Using a cold spoon (kept in the freezer) is a good option as you can apply more pressure on your hickey. You can put a few spoons in the freezer and use them one by one.

Use a toothbrush

There are two brilliant ways to use a toothbrush for making your hickeys vanish. You can use a soft to medium bristle brush and move it in a circular fashion on your love bite. This will restart the blood flow and you will see it fade away. Or you can use the other end of your toothbrush, almost dig it in your skin and rotate it. Of course, you will have to put some pressure on it. This my friend is the best way ever to get rid of hickeys. Repeat it till even your most stubborn hickey goes away.

Apply Aloe Vera Gel

Aah, the good ol’ aloe vera gel comes to the rescue. Because it’s such a nice cooling agent, it can help reduce the redness and swelling (why on earth are you having sex like that?). Apart from my judgemental comments, you also get faster healing with this tip because aloe keeps it moisturised. However, it may take 24 hours before significant results. What? Don’t get too spoiled with instant results. Not every method is so potent!

Use a toothpaste

Well, if you get tired of rotating the toothbrush on your skin, you can let the toothpaste do the rest of the job. Also because the toothbrush will make your skin temporarily sore. Apply a thick layer of toothpaste on the hickey and let it be. This should heal in 24 hours. If it doesn’t, then maybe tell your boyfriend to stop biting you on visible areas?

Turn the heat on

While cooling helps, if the blood clotting persists, you can apply a warm compress to it. Heat and pressure improve circulation which will make the hickey heal faster. And if everything fails, let time heal your hickey. Until then hide it under your clothes or put on a bandage, pretending it’s a cut or something.
