Madhubanti was born in Balurghat, West Bengal, India. Her father, Subrata Bagchi, is a professor, and her mother, Srabani Bagchi, is a businesswoman.

Madhubanti Bagchi holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and a master's degree in Laser and Optical Engineering.

Madhubanti was introduced to music by her father and received her initial training under him.

When she was in the third standard, she started her formal training with the Agra gharana guru Shrimati Subhra Guha.

Madhubanti Bagchi later received training from renowned thumri singer Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury.
