She believes that while some bias might still exist, the industry has improved and is becoming more inclusive.
Sushmiita stated that people are now more accepting, and skin tone is less of a factor in casting.
She believes talent is the main focus. Very well said!
Sushmiita also acknowledged that a small amount of bias might still be present, but this is a global issue, not just an Indian one.
On being asked if she had personally experienced discrimination because of her skin tone, Sushmiita said she had not.
She believes that roles have specific requirements and these should be considered. She hasn't been insulted or made to feel small because of her skin colour and thinks the industry has progressed.
However, she did mention that she's been turned down for roles because she didn't have a very fair complexion, which they wanted for a specific "Punjabi look."
But, Sushmiita also mentioned that she has been offered roles because of her complexion. She said that she doesn't let these things bother her.
She tries to stay positive and believes things happen for a reason.
