Well, it's that time of the year when we snuggle up in our blankets in this chilly weather and watch feel-good Christmas films. I particularly enjoy this time and wait for Christmas films to be released! Building up my excitement was Tyler Taormina's directorial Christmas Eve in Miller's Point. It stars Sawyer Spielberg, Lev Cameron, Matilda Fleming, and others in lead roles. The film has been watched, and here are our honest thoughts.more
As a good film drives around a storyline or plot, this film completely misses the mark on having a storyline or plot. It just revolves around random scenes during holidays and aims to create an emotional connection. But it fails to! The few scenes about family drama, be it mother-daughter drama or sibling drama, make it a bit relatable, as whenever there's a gathering or an occasion, chaos occurs. It was nicely depicted in the film. But it isn't that great or amusing to pull you in. All we can say is that the characters were poorly written. Christmas movies should be able to draw you in and make you feel emotionally connected; however, this film has no such factor. It was a bland menu of characters that just don’t bring anything to the table. more
It also features a few sequences which weren't needed as it doesn’t help the overall story at all. It’s like building up excitement but getting nothing but disappointment. As the film showcases multiple characters’ lives, one would expect a nice human connection however, we never really connected with anyone due to lack of depth and poor direction. We cannot understand the director's vision and are basically confused about the purpose of the film. more
It seems like the makers tried to make this one a big Hollywood Christmas film, but it just ruined the idea of Christmas films for me. Talking about the cinematography, it wasn't visually pleasing with no head and tail. The random jump cuts ruin your experience or excitement, if there was any. It was all haywire, dipped in cliches. Cliches are good in such films, but they didn't work here. more
Christmas Eve in Miller's Point is a film that tries to capture the holiday spirit but ends up being a snooze-fest. With no real storyline to follow, it feels more like a collection of clichés than a sensible, feel-good Christmas film. You’ve got the typical characters—a predictable mix of family members that will make you yawn rather than feel engaged. If you’re looking for something to help you drift off to sleep, this is definitely it.more
While the songs in the film were enjoyable, I also liked how they showcased three different generations celebrating the holidays. But, one thing which the film promised as per its character was nostalgia which they forgot to add. There’s no nostalgic charm or warm feelings to be found here. The acting is just as unremarkable and leaves you without that feel-good factor that holiday movies usually bring. Overall, it’s a disappointing watch that fails to deliver any excitement or connection. If you want to give it a shot, so grab your tickets for this charming holiday movie Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point which is distributed by BookMyShow.more
