Red Rooms Review: Pascal Plante’s Film Is A Chilling Dive Into The World Of Internet And Cyber Crimes!
Directed by Pascal Plante, here's our review of Red Rooms!

Pascal Plante’s Red Rooms takes us into the chilling world of online obsession and the dark allure of true crime. The film isn’t a typical thriller; it’s a slow-burn exploration of fascination with evil, told through the eyes of Kelly-Anne, a young woman deeply drawn to the trial of Ludovic Chevalier, a serial killer who livestreamed his gruesome acts in red rooms on the dark web.
The narrative doesn’t rely on graphic depictions of violence. Kelly-Anne’s obsession is not presented as mere curiosity; it’s a blend of fascination, a desire for notoriety, and perhaps a twisted form of connection. We also get to know how the internet has created a new kind of spectator, one who is not just a passive viewer but an active participant in the consumption of violent content. The film cleverly uses the trial as a backdrop, rather than the central focus. Let’s talk about performances now!
Juliette Gariépy’s performance as Kelly-Anne is the highlight. She portrays a character who is both enigmatic and unsettling. Her fascination with Chevalier is both interesting and disturbing. The supporting cast, particularly those portraying the legal professionals and fellow trial attendees, seems realistic.

The film’s slow-burn approach, while effective in building unease, was monotonous for me. The film also intentionally leaves many questions unanswered, particularly regarding Kelly-Anne’s motivations. While it adds to the film’s nature, it left me feeling unsatisfied or confused. Well, the chilling exploration of the dark side of human nature is worth watching. Gariépy’s performance is nothing short of mesmerising. It leaves a lasting impression literally. The film is set to be shown at the Red Lorry Film Festival, so, don’t miss it!
