Game Changer Movie Review: Ram Charan’s Screen Presence Will Keep You Hooked, Kiara Advani Was A Star Underutilised!
Game Changer is directed by S Shankar and it stars Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and S.J. Suryah in lead roles. Here's our review!

South Indian mass films are an entirely different experience. They’re all about that larger-than-life hero energy. You know, the slow-motion walk, the over-the-top action scenes where bad guys fly through the air, and that powerful background music that makes you feel like you’re the invincible hero yourself. It’s a formula that’s been working for years, and it’s designed to make you feel like you’re part of something epic. Well, I recently watched Game Changer starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, and here’s a detailed review about this S. Shankar directorial!
Plot Of Game Changer
This political drama revolves around Ram Nandan, who is a dedicated government official who clashes with the powerful and corrupt politician, Mopidevi. Mopidevi seeks to become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at any cost. However, Ram Nandan becomes an obstacle in his path to power, which leads to a lot of bloodshed and animosity. Since Ram has immense respect for his father’s ideals, he embarks on a dangerous and life-threatening fight against corruption. However, amid all this, you also witness a goofy, beautiful love story between Deepika and Ram Nandan. It’s all about the battle of power between Ram Nandan and Mopidevi and family values. From Ram’s intelligent tactics to Mopidevi’s corrupt schemes, the entire film is a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns.
Performances
Ram Charan delivered an exceptional performance as Appanna and Ram Nandan and showcased his versatility and range with ease. Especially, his portrayal in the flashback sequence is amazing. Even though Ram Charan nailed the role of a smart, honest IAS officer, it didn’t quite fully utilise his potential and lacked creativity (If i may ask.) Coming to Kiara Advani, unfortunately, her character’s screen time was limited and felt underutilised. While she looked stunning, her character lacked depth and didn’t leave a lasting impression! Another female actor I wish had more screen time was Anjali. Her character had potential, but it wasn’t fully explored. Next, let’s talk about the villain—Moppidevi S.J. Suryah, as the antagonist, delivered a compelling performance. He effectively portrayed the role of a cunning and self-obsessed politician who is driven by greed and a thirst for power. However, his too many finger flicks were bothering.

Action Sequence
Not groundbreaking or particularly innovative, the action sequences were still entertaining, and it’s all thanks to Ram Charan’s undeniable screen presence and Thaman’s powerful background score. They elevated these scenes, and it was visually impactful even though it wasn’t creative.
Choreography
Ummm, it was… unique. If i may say so. Or, let’s just say I watched some of the dance moves with a completely straight face. They weren’t exactly graceful or memorable, and it felt like a missed opportunity, especially considering Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s crazy dancing skills.
Comedy?
Well, the comedy scenes just didn’t work for me. The jokes were so unfunny that I couldn’t even bring myself to laugh, even if I tried. They felt old-fashioned and predictable, and none of them were actually funny. It was truly an awkward experience since nobody even forced themselves to laugh.
Verdict: S. Shankar Directorial Offers A Mixed Bag Of South Swag And Off The Wall Comedy
The film starts off a bit slow, and the first half feels a bit draggy with some unfunny and cringe-worthy jokes. The pacing feels uneven, with some abrupt and disconnected scenes. You are clueless during the first half, but things start to get more interesting in the second half. One note-worthy mention is the flashback sequence; it was delightful! It’s a typical political drama, but it is elevated by Ram Charan’s powerpacked performances and electrifying background score, which is still stuck on my mind. As mentioned above, we wish Kiara Advani had more screen time and an impactful role because the underutilisation of her character was a notable drawback. Well, the political drama has its moments, but it struggles to maintain that level of entertainment throughout and the ending. What can I say? I’m a bit disappointed! Are you going to watch this film?
